Amine Plants:
Amine Units, also known as acid gas removal, are widely used in refineries and natural gas processing plants for acid gas separation which is the separation of CO2 and H2S, from Natural Gas.
Amine has a natural affinity for both CO2 and H2S allowing this to be a very efficient and effective removal process. CO2 when combines with water creates carbonic acid which is corrosive. CO2 also reduces the BTU value of gas and in concentrations of more than 2% the gas is unmarketable. H2S is an extremely toxic gas that is also corrosive to equipment. Amine Units remove these contaminants so that the gas is marketable and suitable for transportation.
